Albert Einstein, yes, that Albert Einstein travels time in this pulpy science fiction series filled with quips, explosions and as Doctor Who put it “wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff”. That’s about as much as I can say without spoilers.

Einstein as a “Time Mason” must make sure to keep the fabric of space time safe from villains like the “Sci-Oscalists” in this issue. The comic reads like older pulp science fiction comic books and strips but also with a healthy dose of self awareness.

Put bluntly, I absolutely love this art! The retro style is totally on point. If you are someone who grew up with comics from back in the golden and silver ages especially this comic will feel like it’s a lost issue from one of those eras.

On top of the perfect retro look Tony Donley shows he has a good mastery of creating big dynamic scenes filled with explosions and showcasing movement with nice exaggerated limbs to really drive home the movement that the comic wants to portray.

This is a very strong first issue. This comic is so enjoyable and a real treat for comic fans who have been around the block. This comic is some of the most fun I’ve had reading a comic all year. Albert Einstein: Time Mason # 1 earns a 9.5 out of 10.
