Review by Jeremias de Leon
One part of the story ends and spirals right into a new part of this war torn alien planet. Aric fights to end the war that he was conscripted in and gets lead to something even more dangerous. More dangerous than the war he was in, somehow.
The comic moves at a brisk pace. That isn’t to say it glosses over things, but more that the scenes on every page take up as much time as they need and don’t overstay their welcome.
It also has some fantastic action. Aric was a man who was forged in war and even on a different planet he doesn’t ease up or lose the composure he’s had during his countless battles during his own time and with the modern warriors in Unity.
The art in the 2017 X-O Manowar series has been top notch since day one. What’s mind blowing is how visceral and brutal the combat is and how the art is still detailed. As detailed as it is during moments of quiet conversation without having to worry about convey any big actions by any characters.
This new X-O Manowar series is fantastic, and so far for five issues straight one of the best series in comics right now. Matt Kindt is a genius writer and Doug Braithwaite is a superb artist. That makes X-O Manowar # 5 earn a 10 out of 10.
