Review by Jeremias de Leon
Oliver Twist’s Artful Dodger has a story that continues originally from the mind of Peter David and adapted by Nicole D’Andria. Arful tries to protect a girl named Drina from vampires and stumbles into a larger conspiracy than he originally thought.
The story feels like it’s still in the style of the classic Oliver Twist, though with some modern subtleties. If one didn’t know better they could think this was written around the same time as the original Oliver Twist.
The art style is fanciful and fits perfectly with the fashions and architecture of the era this story takes place in.
This comic is very fun to read. It has plenty of cool action sequences and the design of the characters and scenery are top notch. Perhaps it’s a bit slow on gripping the reader but when it gets going later in the issue it’s hard to want to stop. Artful # 3 gets a 8.5 out of 10.
