According to Deadline, Supergirl is finally confirmed to get a second season. And the good or bad news, depending on how you see it, is that it is moving to the CW starting this September. With the show’s budget the main reason as to why it didn’t get a full renewal from CBS, the show’s production will move from Los Angeles to Vancover.
The show is produced by Berlanti Production’s and Supergirl will join Arrow, Flash and Legends of Tomorrow there. This also leaves the question into how to make Supergirl a part of the main Arrowverse. Yet, since it was already hinted at, we could very well see a Crisis like event … possibly crossing all 4 shows in order to make Supergirl a part of the Arrowverse. And a 4 parter with one episode on each show to merge Supergirl into the Arrowverse would make an excellent … and unprecedented event. And this is a real possibly, considering that the Flash crossover episode with Supergirl is one of its highest rated episodes of Supergirl season 1.
DC Comics also made a comment on this idea for a Crisis crossover event with this move:
“Considering how popular Season 1’s Flash crossover episode was, one can imagine more team-ups with The CW’s other heroes may await in her future, but we’ll have to wait until Season 2 debuts next fall to know for certain.”
And with the long list of heroes on Supergirl also joining Arrow, White Canary, Spartan, Flash, Vibe, The Atom, Hawkgirl and so much more, it will be great to see the possibility of the Justice League coming to fruition. Martian Manhunter interacting with The Flash or Arrow cast would be amazing. Plus, it would be great to see Supergirl along side Hawkgirl, Vixen, Jesse Quick and more female heroes.
We will have to see this fall.
