Seraph’s Favorite Anime Openings of 2015

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Welcome, Infi-nites. We are deep into 2016, but I wanted to take a little time to enjoy what 2016 had given us. It was quite a year of anime… Gintama had returned. Haikyuu made us love volleyball. While Your Lie in April made us laugh and cry while My Love Story made us laugh and cheer. Here are my favorite openings from 2015. And yes. This is subjective. Feel free to give your own suggestions below. These are not in any particular order. Also, as long as the opening has been seen in a new property in 2015, it will count. Just sit back, relax and enjoy.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text animation=”rda_shake”]We start off with the second opening to Food Wars (Shokugeki no Soma) called ” Rising Rainbow” by Misokkasu. I love this theme cause it is a nicely charged theme you would hear for a shonen, which Food Wars kinda is .. mixed with a sports anime, mixed with drama. It is fun and the visuals are so appealing cause they have the look of a shonen but give a good feel of the show itself. It’s a lot of fun.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_video link=””][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_video link=””][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]This theme …by the Matrix … is it amazing. It is furious. It is pulse pounding. It is visually interesting. And it takes you on a journey from start to finish. This is the opening for both seasons 1 & 2, which counts cause Log Horizon season 2 aired during 2015 … “Database” by Man with a Mission ft. Takuma. Studio Deen kept the spirit of the original opening animation while doing their own thing.  I enjoy this opening in both forms every time I listen to it. And with the expanded cast and deeper story of Log Horizon season 2, it hints at the many things to come.  It is an amazing song for a fantastic (hah) show.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Gintama made it’s gloriously hilarious & violently triumphant return in 2015 to the anime scene. And all of its whimsical corky-ness came back with it. We are so happy to seen Gin, Kagura & Shinpachi again … that we, fans of Gintama, have not stopped cheering since. With the main cast and their HUGE supporting cast back, it was only right to bring back the gang with a feeling of a party. So, the return of Gintama was kicked off with their opening “Day x Day” from Blue Encount. This pulse pounding jam is up-beat and fast, yet very catchy as we get to see the marvelous world of Gintama in all its glory.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_video link=”″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_video link=”″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Simply one of the most beautiful openings I have ever experienced, Your Lie in April’s first opening, Hikaru Nara is true art. The song by Goose House’s seven member group is astounding by the water colored and bright visuals from A-1 Pictures opening for the show. With the lovely looks at our main four characters and a visual representation of not only the show, but the song itself. It is beautiful. It is awe-inspiring. It is up-lifting. You just need to see it to experience it yourself.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]One Punch Man. The Hero. Jam Project. This opening is AMAZING. The detail to this opening is magificent and the song itself is one of Jam Project’s best… really hits you like a punch. It is metal. It is hard. It is brutal. It is One Punch Man. Yes. YES. YES!![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_video link=””][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_video link=””][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Yowamushi Pedal: Grande Road is up next with their second opening, Remind by Rookiez is punk’d. This high energy opening fits the show perfectly as the season is on the last legs of the Inter High race our cast is racing for, featuring not only our main characters but the main supporting characters and rival schools on the show. It’s a great little opening with smooth animation and a lot of fun that just gets you hype.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Ah. Gundam Build Fighters Try. And sure… I would have given this to Cerulean if it came out in 2015, but it did not. Yet, there is something about Just Fly away from Edge of Life. It sounded different from the other openings … well, it was the only opening not attached to Back ON. That and there was a nice sound of electronic with the normal j-pop/j-rock these anime openings have. It really grew on me. The animation for it is absolutely amazing. It beats out the openings, animation wise, for all the other Build Fighters openings for both series. It was amazing. It has wonder, intrigue, plenty of action and a great display of our characters. A solid opening.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_video link=””][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_video link=””][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]YES! More Jam Project. YES! Garo has an anime as well as tokustatsu. And Jam Project has done every Garo opening in all its franchises. Yet, Jam Project try something different here. This does not sound like typical Jam Project fanfare. It sounds more experimental but at the same time, with the darker animation and the sound of the theme, they create this blissfully dark, yet jazzy theme to fits Garo the Animation aka Garo the Divine Flame so well. B.B. is a triumph front and back.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]It is freaking Sailor Moon. Yes. Sailor Moon Crystal. It last a year while it was biweekly. And I really love this opening. Yes. It is Sailor Moon. Look how pretty is. And Moon Pride by Momoiro Clover Z fits the new show extremely well. Plus, the Black Moon family look awesome.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_video link=””][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_video link=””][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Next up is an opening that has a feeling the likes of Black Lagoon or Jormangand openings. It is very techno with a nice beat. Very interesting and stylish art. And there is hints of ultra-violence in the opening. Gangsta’s opening, Renegade by Stereo Dive Foundation is very … urban. The techno beat grabs you and the visuals keep you there.  There’s a great beat to go along with the techno sound and the art from Managlobe is pretty awesome. I love this opening for out deprived and decadent it is while still being stylish and awesome.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]To anyone who knows me, I love Cardfight!! Vanguard. Seriously … I LOVE Cardfight!! Vanguard. I play the card game for years now. I watched the anime since the original season one was released. I was even part of the beta for the Cardfight!! Vanguard Online ran by Bushiroad, the people behind all things Vanguard. And they didn’t disappoint with this opening. It is fast. It is furious. It is wonderful. Yaiba by the Breakerz is full of metal glory while the animation is some of Bushiroad’s best yet. The song is as sharp as it’s name as Yaiba is the Japanese word for Blade. And a Cardfight is just a battle between two people with cards as their blades. Seeing both the current generation of Cardfighters with a good chuck of the characters from the original anime’s run in the opening made this opening an even better treat.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_video link=””][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_video link=””][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Next up is an opening with a lot of style, different kinds of animation and real life photography with a unique mash up that really not only calls on the themes of the series, but gives a unique experience when you watch this opening. And this opening is “Insight” by WHITE ASH for Gatchaman Crowds Insight. It is a very interesting look at our media and the use of social media while also showing us the characters and conflicts of the show.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]What I love about this theme is that it contradicts itself while still trying to progress and be up-lifting. Young Black Jack was a one season anime that deal with the younger years of the black market surgeon and legend now known as Black Jack.  UMI☆KUUN’s “I’m Just Feeling Alive” is a nice and interesting score through a changed Young Black Jack, War torn country and … a samurai who’s about to face Black Jack with a scalpel?! That’s just amazing. You have no idea how I hype I was watching and listening to the theme. It has wonderful melody, but man … the animation was great and just really lored you in.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_video link=””][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_video link=””][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]The second appearance from the Gundam franchise on this list … and it is my list so … oh well! 🙂 Iron-Blooded Orphans hasn’t been anything less but glorious with its interesting characters, politics and very different setting. The story of child soldiers from a colony on Mars is given a gritty yet pretty opening animation from Sunrise. With the gloriously beautiful and ridiculously lethal Gundam Barbabos, Mika and Orga leading the way, Man with a Mission returns to this list with “Raise Your Flag.” Fans love the opening so much, it has cast a shadow over the latest opening … and many other openings in Gundam’s catalogue. It is fast, gritty, hard and hype. Man with a Mission does it again with this opening to close out 2015.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]This song is just so damn hype. I have not been this hype over a Yu-gi-oh song since “We Believe in Nexus” from Jam Project. Yugioh Arc V’s fourth opening “Trump Card” (“Kirifuda”) from cinema staff is simply amazing. The darker, harder rock opens the song and just grabs your head and leads you on with the crisp animation from NAS. The powerful opening shows all our characters dealing with a new version of the 5D dimension … scans Yusei. From awesome card games on motorcycles to pendulum summoned monsters to Jack muthafuckin Atlas …this opening rocks![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_video link=””][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_video link=””][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Finally, we end our journey with Man with a Mission one last time. Yes. They are here again with “Seven Deadly Sins” from the anime with the same name. This second opening is amazing. It is majestic, riveting and then hard and hype. The opening animation by A-1 Pictures is amazing. From the castles to the desert to the darkness of night to the demons below, everything looks very powerful and dangers as the songs switches from a happier tone to a darker one then back again and it really does an amazing job of gripping you visually and musically. A true triumph. And why I love it so much.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]And there you have it. My favorite anime openings for 2015. My favorite ending themes for 2015 will pop up in 2 weeks time, just in time to celebrate April Fool’s Day.  I do hope you enjoy everything you have seen and listened to the music. With that said, please listen to this music and really enjoy yourself.
