Comic Review: Invincible Iron Man #1

Invincible Iron Man #1 was good to start off this review. It definitely feels like a Brian Michael Bendis book with the dialogue. I wasn’t expecting “Friday” to be Tony’s A.I but I haven’t read an Iron Man series since Fraction’s run. I’m guessing she was introduced in Gillen’s Iron Man run?

Anyway,  Bendis like always does a great job writing characters with great dialogue. I have to say what really shined this issue was Justin Ponsor’s color pallet.  Add David Marquez artwork and this book is fantastic from the get go. Adding onto David’s praise, the way he frames certain panels was well done. If David and Justin get to do a silent issue, I would be down.

With Bendis he is tackling a problem I feel like we always see in Iron Man down the line. That being his need of a new armor. This new armor looks and sounds interesting but I felt like as a reader, we were in familiar territory once again with Tony. So I’m interested in seeing where Bendis will take Tony in this journey.

In terms of being new reader friendly, it works. Fans who are familiar with Tony from the Marvel Cinematic Universe will feel welcomed. Maybe they don’t understand the new Thor but for the most part, I don’t see new readers being confused by the content inside of this issue.

Overall, Invincible Iron Man has taken off once again and I’m excited to see what Tony Stark will do.
